Honeymoon Day 5 - August 2, 2008

Location: St. Thomas, USVI, 8AM – 10PM

Today we woke up in St. Thomas, which is the capital of the US Virgin Islands. St. Thomas is just 40 miles east of Puerto Rico and covers an area of 32 square miles. Total population is 56,000. Our excursion left at 8:30, so we had time for room service and coffee on the balcony.

Our trip today consisted of a two-hour catamaran sail to St. John, lunch, drinks, snorkeling, and beach time. The area around the island had some nice coral reefs, so we spent most of our time in the water. We saw something we had never seen before – Fire Coral. This coral has a mustard yellow color and “burns” you if you touch it. We stayed away from that stuff. The beach was beautiful and the water was crystal clear! The ride back was very relaxing. We got lots of sun and lots of rum punch, which seems to be the drink of choice down here!

We gave the prize of “most annoying woman ever” to one of our fellow passengers. By the end of the trip, we were plotting of ways to throw here overboard without being caught. We had a feeling we actually might be doing her poor husband a favor! Rob didn’t help the matter. He keep saying things to her to get her agitated. I guess you have to make your own fun sometimes ; )

When we got back, we showered and decided to go back out for some sight-seeing. We grabbed some more of the yummy Indian pizza and as we were about to leave the ship, it started to pour, so we turned back and decided a long nap was a better idea!

Tonight we watched a very funny comedian named Sarge perform in the Princess Theatre. We laughed so hard that we cried. After the show, we headed to our room for some much needed sleep. Our tour tomorrow leaves early!

There were big lizards on the island!
